DJUSD and Davis Media Access join forces to release first episode of Faces and Focus

With Common Core tests around the corner, parents are eager to learn more about the computerized testing coming to Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD). To answer questions about the testing and the broader topic of “Assessment,” Stephanie Gregson, Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Learning is the feature of the first episode of new Faces and Focus program.

“As part of our goal to improve communication, we continue to look for new and innovative ways to reach out to our community,” remarked Winfred Roberson, superintendent of schools.

Faces and Focus is a new DJUSD program on Channel 17 Educational Access television and is produced in partnership with Davis Media Access (DMA). “We’re delighted to work with DJUSD on a project that will help get information out to many families in the district. DMA leverages existing resources and community partnerships to create media that addresses community need,” said Autumn Labbé-Renault, executive director for the media center.

The new series is just one step in a new approach to DJUSD messaging which has also included the launch of social media as well as centralized digital broadcasts for DJUSD parents. The thirty-minute episodes of Faces and Focus will be shown on Channel17, but previews or links will be embedded on websites, Facebook posts or digital communications to capture the interests of those who may choose to access news from online sources.

“We live in a digital world. Each day more people access news and information from online resources and use it to provide instant feedback. The Faces and Focus partnership demonstrates an interplay of media strategies used to raise awareness and address complex issues by capitalizing on the medley of growing information sources used by our community,” said Maria Clayton, DJUSD Public Information Officer.

The next episode of Faces and Focus is in development. To share ideas or suggestions for future episodes, contact communications@djusd.net. To view a preview or the entire first episode visit here.
