Empower Yolo, Yolo County’s primary victim service provider and violence prevention leader would like to extend its sincerest thanks to all who attended Rebels with a Cause: Driving Out Violence at Reiff’s Gas Station Museum on Saturday, September 20th.

Special thanks to our Rebels with a Cause: Driving Out Violence event sponsors – who made this event possible: Engstrom Properties, Inc., Reiff’s Gas Station Museum, Bella Bartending Service, American Industrial Coatings, Brooks Painting, Home Improvements Group, Nugget Market, Portman-Shellhammer Trust, Firehouse Entertainment, Blue Wing Gallery, Amos Metz, Law Offices of Steven C. Sabbadini, Transcend, Wallace-Kuhl & Associates & Andy and Debbie Wallace, Woodland Healthcare, Blakes Heating and Air, The Shack, L&S Printing, Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate, Inc., Community Business Bank; Kim Eichorn, Lyon Real Estate; Landucci, Bick, Matter, Johnston & Martin LLP CPA’S; Palms Playhouse, Scott and Julie Maxwell, V. Santonis, National Town & Valley Properties, and Steven and Lydia Venables.

As a nonprofit, special events are an important source of revenue which safeguards our invaluable programs against cuts in federal and state funding. Domestic violence is in the news again with the NFL/Ray Rice case; and while this case has brought important awareness and attention to the issue of intimate partner violence, it is not unusual. Domestic violence occurs every single day in our community. Empower Yolo’s emergency confidential shelter for women and children who have been affected by violence is nearly always full. And, our crisis lines are always ringing. Further, Empower Yolo is doing the important work of violence prevention education with youth in local schools with its My Strength and Be Strong Programs.

With this, Empower Yolo depends on the generous support of our community to continue to provide these integral services. The funds raised through Rebels with a Cause: Driving Out Violence will safeguard Empower Yolo’s essential, life-saving violence intervention and prevention programs benefiting our community.

Thank you once again to all who attended and supported this event!

Sincerely,

Lynnette Irlmeier
Executive Director
