Davis MoveOn Council joined 700 cities across America when they organized  a high impact Stand Up for Health Care Rally at the  Amtrak Train Station Tuesday November 3, 2009 at noon.

Davis residents greeted people coming off the Amtrak Train with chants demanding Health Care for All Now. They flooded the Davis restaurant area with more chants calling for the Public Option. Under bright sunlight,  the public saw the determined and compassionate faces of those who need health care and those who support health care for all.

Participants brought over 150 prescription bottles, from family and friends as well as ther own, filled with devastating stories of health care needs. These bottles are to be presented to Sen. Feinstein’s  San Francisco Staff  to let her know that Yolo County residents support her vote for health care reform that includes a Public Option. Residents spoke of their health care needs.

Cindy Myers, an uninsured caregiver, spoke of her need for eye surgery that cost $38,000. Her remedy was to work 4 part time jobs for over two years, the physician agreed to wave his fee and to perform the surgery in his office costing her $1,500.00.

An unidentified college age passer-by told of his five year struggle to get on-going health care for an injury that left him unable to work and with chronic pain. Brenda Turnner, Woodland resident, talked with  aggravated dissenters concerned about increase cost to fund health care for all.

Quieting the dissenters with a grandmotherly voice, she was able to present the bare facts to diminish their concerns. Howard Cohen, reported receiving $50,000 of medical services under New Mexico’s state sponsored health care program.
