Davis Roots Hires New General Manager

Hunt-BoyerDavis-based business accelerator Davis Roots is pleased to announce that Scott Ragsdale will be joining its startup program as the new General Manager.

With an MBA from St. Mary’s College, Ragsdale has led the founding and early growth of several startups in clean energy. “Prior to Roots, I worked in renewable energy, primarily solar, building companies and working for large manufacturers and utilities. While renewable energy remains a passion, my earlier experiences in management consulting have kept me interested in a wide range of industries.”

Andrew Hargadon, co-founder of Davis Roots, commented, “Scott has a passion for Davis an for helping develop and grow the entrepreneurial community here.”

Co-founder Anthony Costello added, “This is a great next step in the growth of Davis Roots and toward our long-term commitment to foster economic development in Davis.”

Davis Roots is a hands-on resource for local innovators to launch new businesses with large-scale prospects. Some of the businesses currently in residence include SonanuTech, bacteriophage early detection systems for food processing, Foodful.ly, automated custom-media platform that helps you to use-up food that would otherwise go to waste, and Zebra Code, a blended full stack web development educational product. “Scott is accessible and deliberate and he will be a great resource for our team of companies,” said Davis Roots Director, Joe DiNunzio.

Ragsdale will be managing the on-boarding process for new ventures as well as facilitating resource networks for resident companies. “In addition to our university students and faculty, Davis has many capable entrepreneurs, subject experts and business owners that I hope will look at Davis Roots as a another way to work together and build our community from within. I’m looking forward to being a part of this important contribution to Davis.”
