On Saturday, June 4th, from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, there will be a downtown rally in support of Yes on Measure A at The Lofts, 105 E Street, #300 (3rd Floor).
The event is FREE and open to all Davis community members. Refreshments will be provided.
Local leaders have been invited and guest speakers will be announced later in the week. The event is hosted by Armadillo Music, Davis Lofts, Davis Commercial Properties, Sophia’s Thai Kitchen & Bar, Davis Chamber PAC, and Presidio Companies.
The Downtown Community Supports Measure A because it:
- Discourages peripheral sprawl
- Supports Davis schools
- Fosters a vibrant downtown
- Reduces traffic congestion
- Promotes a walkable & bikeable community
- Reduces greenhouse gas emissions
- Increases public parks & open space
this is kinda interesting also…..for those who may not understand some of the politics behind this….
downtown businesses support Nishi…..why is that? because the development will bring more people in an area adjacent to their businesses and thus increase their profits…..however, the type of development will not adversely affect nor compete with the likes of those retailers.
compare this to when Borders came to town ….with a lot of fanfare and a ton of pushback from the independent retailers nearby…..many bookstores went under as did other businesses which Borders directly competed with.
as I keep saying, follow the money and understand better why who does what, when and why….

Do you see anything wrong with downtown businesses advocating for a location for housing that all agree is lacking in Davis, which also will benefit their businesses ?
