After more than a year of litigation, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office has introduced a new theory in the prosecution of Carlos Reales Dominguez, suggesting that he may have been suffering from cannabis-induced psychosis rather than schizophrenia, despite the overwhelming weight of medical evidence pointing to schizophrenia.
Carlos Reales Dominguez’s retrial has been set for January 20, 2026, after the previous trial ended in a mistrial, with the charges revised to second-degree murder and attempted murder with enhancements for use of a deadly weapon and a prior felony conviction.
Carlos Reales Dominguez was found not guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and the trial on the remaining charges was declared a mistrial, with a new trial set for July 24.
